Does he have to file his own return or can I just report his 1099 Misc income on my tax return

You will not include this income on your tax return. Instead, your child will need to file a tax return and indicate that he or she is being claimed as a dependent. Please follow the directions in the Turbo Tax FAQ below, to start a new return for your child.
