Where do I find the tax liability on the 2019 1040-SR? What line?

It's line 24 on the 1040, but that line on the 1040-SR is the tax penalty.

Thanks, KrisD. Unfortunately, I even more confused now. Your answer makes sense, but I chatted with a live expert before getting this response, and was told that if I didn't have an additional form from last year (I forget the form number), I should put 0 as the tax liability. Before I attempt an amended return, I'd like to know which expert is correct.

The 1040SR has the exact same line numbers as the regular 1040.  What do you need the tax liability for?

2019 compare them

The total tax liability on line 24 is for 2020 returns.  For 2019 it is on line 16 on both the 1040 and 1040SR.

refer to your original and revised 1040 tax returns for the amounts to enter on Form 1040-X.

You can't just enter arbitrary amounts.

Don't file an incorrect Form 1040-X.
