Where do I enter payments not on 1098-T

I made payments to my college for tuition in 2016 that did not appear on my 1098-T. Where do I enter these payments? It did not accept entering into box 1.

Where do I enter payments not on 1098-T

You would enter those expenses as qualifying expenses not on a Form 1098-T by following the directions below:

Even though they did not issue you a Form 1098-T, Tuition Statement, you can still enter those expenses using the directions below:

To enter those expenses not on Form 1098-T

  1. Open (continue) your return, if you're not already in it.

  2. Even through you're not entering your Form 1098-T, In TurboTax, search for 1098T (lower-case works also) and then click or tap the "Jump to" link in the search results.

  3. Answer any education questions that pop up (enrollment status, name of school, and so forth).

    • If you land on the Education Expenses Summary screen, click or tap Edit next to the student in question, then edit the Tuition item.

  4. At the Did you get a 1098-T? screen, answer NO and continue.

As you continue through, we'll ask about other expenses (tuition, books, supplies, equipment) and financial aid.
