You
can enter your tax exempt dividends reported on a 1099-DIV into TurboTax here:
- Select Federal Taxes
- Select Wages & Income
(I'll choose what i work on)
- You may need to click on Skip
to see all income
- Scroll down to Interest and
Dividends
- Click on Show more and then
Interest on 1099-DIV
- Start or Update
Then
when you enter your 1099-DIV into TurboTax, under the field that you input your
dividend income there is a box you can check that says "My form has
info in more than just these boxes (this is uncommon)." When you check
this box, more boxes from the 1099-DIV will appear, including Tax Exempt
Dividends.
If you need to enter tax exempt interest, you can follow the same instructions in the 1099-INT section.
