You do not enter your dependent's W-2 on your own tax return. They can file a tax return to seek a refund of tax withheld as shown in boxes 2 and 17 of the W-2, and on their return must say that they can be claimed as a dependent on someone else's tax return.
And...who is the adult? How much did they earn in 2021?
If your dependent has income they file their own return. If f the adult is over age 18 and not a full time student and earned more than $4,300 you can’t claim them. If they truly are a dependent be sure they check the box saying that someone else can claim them.
My son was a full time student fromJan to May. He graduated and got job, living at home but working a short term job out of state from August through December.

If your son was under 24 at end of 2021, you still can claim him on your return as he was at least a half-time student even if he did earn more than $4300, as long as you provided more than half of his support.
Depending on his earned income, he might not be required to file a return. If he needs to file one to claim a refund, let him file a dependent return.
