Where do I enter a K-1 for a state return? I have entered the federal K-1, but there is a separate K-1 with different withholding figures for the state return.

I know it didn't carry over from Fed to State because when entering the Fed K-1 I entered the federal amount withheld but not the state amount. As such, my state tax due is showing much higher than it should because I haven't entered the amount withheld. I need to know where to do that.

The details of reporting the state K-1 form vary from state to state, but your state withholding can be enter this way:

  1. Click on Federal.
  2. Select Deductions and Credits.
  3. Look for Estimates and Other Taxes paid on the list.
  4. Click Start or Review to the right of Income Taxes Paid.
  5. Scroll down to Other Income Taxes Paid.
  6. Find Withholding not already entered on a W-2 or 1099, click Start or Edit to the right.
  7. Under State Withholding, select the state and enter the amount to the right.

If you have other information from your state K-1 form, those questions should come up when you do your state return.

The solution provided by the "tax expert" has nothing to do with entering difference in ordinary income, etc. between federal and state K1 forms

It depends on your State and where the K-1 is from, so please clarify your question.

The details of reporting the State K-1 form vary from state to state, but typically your state withholding can be entered this way:

  1. Click on Federal.
  2. Select Deductions and Credits.
  3. Look for Estimates and Other Taxes paid on the list.
  4. Click Start or Review to the right of Income Taxes Paid.
  5. Scroll down to Other Income Taxes Paid.
  6. Find Withholding not already entered on a W-2 or 1099, and click Start or Edit to the right.
  7. Under State Withholding, select the state and enter the amount to the right.

If the above steps do not work, you may have to enter the withholding in the State Interview under Taxes and  Credits.
