If Where's My Refund shows that the IRS as placed the request for the bonds, contact Treasury Retail Securities to find the status of the bonds.

generally, no bonds are actually issued. it's like buying stock through a broker and letting the stock sit in the account.

Series I bonds purchased via Form 8888 are only issued as paper bonds and is the only way paper savings bonds can be purchased. Any other purchase of savings bonds must be done as electronic bonds.
Yes. Every year I order the bonds and they are usually mailed to me in paper form. Have they switched to electronic cause I didn’t receive mine from 2021 filing nor have I received any correspondence.
