I replaced my roof in 2021. I needed a new roof to install solar panels (the older roof was too old and deemed incapable of supporting the solar panels). I installed solar panels in 2022. I was told that I should be able to claim the cost of the roof replacement as part of the solar tax credit in 2022. Where can I claim that, please? should I just add the roof replacement cost (incurred in 2021) to the solar panel cost (incurred in 2022) and enter that as the "solar panel cost"?
Thanks much!

Thanks. Please notice that in my situation the Roof was replaced in 2021 and the solar panels installed in 2022. Can I still include the roof replacement cost as part of the 2022 solar panel cost? (Notice the year difference). Also if I have claimed the roof by itself in the 2021 return (home energy improvements) should I file an amendment to the 2021 to remove it from there since it’s now accounted for in the 2022 solar credit?
