When would I check the "Remove these wages" box for State Wages?

Not sure if I should check the "Remove these wages" box for state income.

If you are talking about New Jersey, and you earned money in a different state, with W-2 income being double-reported on your NJ return, remove the wages from the other state.

If you're talking about a different state, please reply here. Also please let me know which is your resident state.

So if one is a resident of NJ and are filing for the NJ State Tax but earnings/income are from NY. Would they remove the NY wages?
