When will turbotax release 2019 1040-X electronic filling?

It is not a TurboTax release you are waiting for yet. The IRS has not started yet to accept e-filed 1040X returns. The IRS has not yet announced when e-filing will begin. But when they do, a lot has to happen in the software programming to make it work. Meanwhile, if you want to amend, you can do so by mail. But the processing is taking much longer, since the IRS is not opening mailed returns at this time.

Do not expect DIY programs like TT to have access to efiling the 1040X this year if it ever becomes a reality ... plan to mail in the forms until the IRS gets that option operational. I suspect only professional programs will be able to efile amended returns in the beginning.
