Yes, I know you can use 2019 or 2020 income, but someone earlier in this thread said that H&R Block did not have the capability yet to use 2019 income and I was wondering if that had been fixed yet.
If I've already filed efile and just now seeing about tax form 7202, what do I need to do to get credit?
And I’m telling you that I filed with H&R and they gave me a choice if I want to use 2019 instead
Vwn819 - just saw your post - did you efile with the Form 7202 included and Turbo tax sent it through as a PDF attachment ? You didn't get "cannot efile" message?
The instructions for Form 7202 state that the form must be attached to your return. Form 7202 is used to figure the amount to claim for qualified sick and family leave equivalent credits under the FFCRA.
If you are including Form 7202 in your return, you cannot e-file it. You must print out the return and mail it in. TurboTax does not have the capability of attaching a PDF file to a return.
If you have already filed you can amend your return to include Form 7202. However, you must wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return.
IMPORTANT: Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself. Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed.
Please see the instructions contained in these TurboTax articles to amend your return:
Is Turbotax working on the capability to be able to attach the pdf to the return? If not we will have to switch to a different provider.
No. TurboTax employee says they are not. They keep saying 7202 have to be mailed. This is untrue. I Efile mine with H&R and IRS accepted it.
I didn't need the form so I deleted it from my return and filed.... Now I am getting an error message that my EIN numbers are incorrect. They are not. Never ending...
It wouldn’t let me efile at first but then it said to print my state taxes and I printed and after that it gave me the option to efile my federal. So that’s what I did. When I pulled up my tax information the form was in my pdf file with the rest of my tax return forms. I called a turbo tax specialist and they were no help. My return has not been accepted by the irs and no one can explain to me why their system let me efile. I want my money back turbo tax is trash now.
If we are not able to efile why are we having to pay for efiling services? I am being charged about $270 for everything and I still have to go and pay for mailing it out.
Thats a really good question....its the 16th and I still cant efile
No, Form 7202 will not be able to be e-filed. The IRS does not accept e-filing on Form 7202. TurboTax prepares a PDF copy that cannot be e-filed through TurboTax. If you are taking any of the credits listed below, you will not be able to e-file. If you are not taking those credits, you can remove the form and e-file your return.
The Families First Coronavirus Response First Act, which was passed March 18, 2020, provides relief in the form of refundable tax credits for sick leave and family leave for both eligible self-employed and small business owners.
And there is no fee for e-filing in TurboTax Online. The fees you pay are for tax preparation. @paulina-villasen
As far as IRS not accepting efiling, yes thats true but seems to be only part of the story --i.e. as to what your competitors are doing for their customers.
I've now heard MANY people say that other online tax preparers (like HR Bloch) are allowing people to efile their federal returns and supporting Form 7202 as a PDF attachment! I'm stunned Turbo Tax is not offering the same service?? There's a ton of self employed people out there!
Just the responses to this question (now numbering over 100) should tell you how people feel on this - and tax season/efiling has only just opened up!
Yes, it seems TurboTax isn't too concerned with losing business to its competitors. I find this quite incredible as well, especially when the customers they are going to lose are the ones paying the most, i.e. the self-employed version that supports Schedule C. I've been a TurboTax customer for many years, but this issue is going to cause me to switch.
Thanks for the heads up everyone! 16 years with Turbo Tax.....had issues with my stimulus due to them and now I am unable to efile due to this form. Switching to H&R Block.
