Weird, worked for me....using online and had to upgrade to Self Employed version....
Home and business Desktop here. Still waiting. If anyone sees it please report back. Thanks!
Pension Deduction Worksheet: Federal Amount We're still working on updates related to retirement distributions that qualify for disaster or covid relief. You can keep working on your return and we'll remove this message when it's ready. |
Yeah I'm stuck on this also was completely ready to file and had everything paid for but that message is stopping me and the amount its telling me to check is correct.
Those reporting it available all seem to be using the online version. As stated here, it is not expected to be e-filable until tomorrow. Perhaps the desktop won't update until tomorrow.
Yup same! All paid and ready to file, but can't......
There's a different page that states it's available to efile today (I just completed that a few minutes ago) and the return was accepted by the feds. The trick is to go back into the 1099 and edit that, don't make any changes, and then new screens will show up.
Not sure what else to do
Yeah, me either :(
@Shannara Are you using the desktop or online version of TT? When I make edits to the 1099-R using the desktop version there are no updates. Furthermore, form 8915-E does not appear in the lists of forms.
right. i just got off the phone with a turbo tax CPA, he stated that the form will not be available until tomorrow. when filing the 1099-R, he stated at the end there will be a box that you click and it takes you to the Coronavirus Relief Section. He stated it will be available on all software EXCEPT the free one
Correct, 8915-E is available on 2/25. Keep in mind, while the early distribution from a retirement account penalty will be waived by completing this form, the withholding is not exempted. However, due to COVID, you can spread your withholding payment over three years.
@ReneeM7122 Do you know anything about the Pension Deduction Worksheet that is popping up once it checks my State return saying to check the amount but the amount is correct and this is stopping me from filing my taxes?
So let me understand this correctly:
At time of withdrawal they take out 10% and say they are going to wave the other 10%.
At time of filing taxes they have taken your 10%, say they are waiting the other 10% but tax you 33% over 3 years.
So you are ultimately paying 43% in tax on the distribution.
And there is no option to check to break it up into 3 years. There is only 1 box on the website. It says pay full tax or not pay full tax. It changes your refund from $12,000 owed to $1,800 refund by checking or unchecking that box.
Where is the box to pay 1/3 of the 33% ?
@yarik83 I believe leaving it unchecked is the 1/3 option not sure
If you edit the 1099 and don’t change anything: new prompts will appear and ask you more questions about the the coronavirus distribution!
