When to start state taxes.

I am using TurboTax online and I was wondering if it is okay to start your state taxes before you have finished with entering all your federal tax information and income. Thanks for any advice.

No, it's best to wait until you finish the federal as many entries on the federal side transfer over to the state.  You would have to go back and edit the state as there may be double-entries.

Thanks for letting me know. I know when you start the state taxes Turbotax will state it is transferring your federal data and I was afraid if I  made any changes to my federal taxes it would cause problems with the state. I had wanted to get started on the state because the last of my federal information is not available until the end of the month but now I know it is best to wait.
