When I printed my 1040 tax return to mail, there was no form 8962 included despite entering the information from my 1095-A. This is a required form. Why is it missing?

I found the blank form on the irs.gov website after unsuccessfully searching my turbotax documents, but after paying $80 for deluxe, this form should be included. There was nothing in the filing instructions in the turbotax return printout that suggested this was something I needed - only by looking over the requirements for 1095-A did I realize that it was missing. If I had mailed this out as I recieved it, it would have been incomplete. I spent an hour on hold trying to talk to someone about this only to have my phone go ***** at the beginning of the conversation. They did not call me back and when I called the help line again with my support number, I was told I would need to wait another hour. I've used turbotax for many years and have endured the annoyance of the slow load times and constant ads to upgrade, but between this missing form and the poor customer service, I have never had such a terrible experience. I'll more likely than not be using a different service next year for tax preparation and I won't be recommending turbotax in the future.

For 2020, Form 8962 is not required to be filed if your return has any Excess Advanced Premium Tax Credits.  The only time you would need to include Form 8962 in your 2020 income tax return is if you are claiming a Premium Tax Credit.

This could be the reason Form 8962 is not being generated with your tax return this year.

Based on your response, I sent it out as is with my 1095-A enclosed. Hopefully it won't get rejected for being incomplete! Preparing my taxes myself was always pretty straightforward until they introduced all this healthcare nonsense.
