Anyone?
You need to enter how many W-2's were issued. If you just have one for the officer and no other employees, then you would enter 1.
Thanks for the response on this, but there still seems to be a lot of confusion on this particular question. If you take a look at this discussion https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/as-a-s-corp-owner-i-paid-w2-wages-to-myself-when-..., posts from four separate "Expert Alumni" suggest; if you're the only member of a business with S Corp status, you should answer "Yes" for Officer Compensation, "1" for number of officers, and "0" for the number of employee W2s issued (apparently they're just asking about W2s issued in addition to the officer's W2).
Not saying those experts are right, but is there maybe an IRS document or instruction that addresses the last question (number of employee W2s issued)? If it's being asked in the TT software, it must have a specific field it applies to on an IRS form.
Thanks again.
I agree with ThomasM125, if you issued yourself a W-2, you should answer with "1". As an S-Corp owner, you are also an employee. What you put there will have no affect on your tax returns; moreover, there won't be any penalty or other repercussions, regardless of how you answer.
That's what I was thinking too, but the other Experts sounded pretty certain. Either way, good to know it doesn't really affect any calculations.
