If you used the CD version to prepare a tax return, the only place it exists is on the physical computer the software was installed on, and used to prepare and file that tax return.
If you used the online version, then prior year tax returns are available in the user account that was used to prepare and file those tax returns. Turbotax does not have access to user accounts. Only the user that prepared/filed the tax return does.
While a copy of the return does cost money from the IRS, you can get a transcript for each year for free. You can get it online, and only takes a few minutes at https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript. Most likely, all that's needed for the legal front is transcripts, and I'd expect that would be fine.
You can also provide them a signed 4506-T which you can get at https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506t.pdf and they can submit the request themselves.
Thank you. I don't know if the lawyers will be okay with transcripts, but I can ask! Don't know why TurboTax told me they would notify me by email when the documents would be ready, then when the notice came, it went nowhere. It said something in small print to the effect that she did not use a TurboTax product that included this benefit. Thanks again.
P.S. It was not a CD version but online.

It's common to end up with multiple accounts. First LOG OUT of whatever TurboTax account you're logged into right now. Then use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of user ID's for an email address. Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used

You can also request a transcript from the IRS

How to Access prior year online returns

If you can't get the side menus to open up to access the prior year..... You need to start entering some basic Personal Info in 2022 for the side menu to open up. Just continue a little ways into 2022. I had to go though about 12 screens.
Or request a transcript from the IRS
https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
Or get a copy of your return using form 4506

As guardians we have access to her account. She did not file for 2021 because she was totally incapacitated that year. She didn't file for 2022 because she was totally incapacitated all of that year.
If she had no reportable income at all in 2021 and 22, then there would be no need for her to file a tax return for those years. So things would be fine if that's the case.
