Hello, if I can claim my daughter who is over 18 and has a W2, does she have to select that she can be claimed as a dependant when she files?
Thank you,

MY DEPENDENT HAD A JOB
If your dependent has a W-2 for his after-school job, summer job, etc. you do not include the information on your own return. You can still claim your child as a dependent on your own return. He/she can file his own return for a refund of some of his withheld wages (he won’t get back anything for Social Security or Medicare), but MUST indicate on it that he can be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return. (Supervise this closely or prepare it for him!)
If your dependent’s earnings were over $400 and were reported on a 1099Misc or 1099NEC then he must file a return and pay self-employment tax for Social Security and Medicare. You may want to use this version of TT for that:

First, are you sure that you can claim her as a dependent? But the answer to your question is that if you can claim her she has to say that when she files.
Income earned by a dependent from working must be reported on a tax return in the dependent's own name. This may or may not affect your ability to claim them as a dependent.
However, if they qualify to be claimed, they must answer "yes" to the question "Can someone else claim you as a dependent", even if that other person agrees not to claim them. For 2020, answering "no" will qualify the person for an $1800 stimulus rebate, but that, unfortunately, is tax fraud, and if the IRS catches you, the money will have to be repaid with interest and a penalty for filing a false tax return.
Your 18 year old child can most likely be claimed as a dependent unless they earned so much money that they paid for more than half their total financial support (including the value of rent, utilities, food, entertainment, clothing, travel, and medical insurance and care that might be provided by the parents.).
See this for more information on dependent qualifications.
Thank you I just want to make sure I do not commit tax fraud.
