What year?  For 2018 the amount from W2 box 1 goes to 1040 line 1.  Is your 1040 line 1 too small?  Did you have more than 1 W2 and miss entering one?

So for 2017 the W2 box 1 goes to 1040 line 7.  What's wrong with line 7?  Is it too much or too little?

Did you install the 2017 software on your computer?   2017 can ONLY be done with the CD/download version now since online of only for 2018.

What exactly, is the problem?

Did you import the W2 or take a picture or manually enter it into your return?  You are suppose to check your return before you file.

You CANNOT import a W-2 in the 2017 program.   That only works for the current year - 2018.   You must manually enter the W-2 in the "Wages & Salaries" - W-2 section.

Is this a 2017 return already filed or are you trying to file 2017 now?

They said the IRS is questioning it.
