Using the Turbo Tax Program, Unemployment = Business or Farm Refund??

Currently using the downloaded Turbo Tax Premiere program, and when inputting NY unemployment (1099-G) I get "payment is not reported as Business or Farm." Since it is neither, and clicking "Business" has me create a business, what are next steps?

You are entering the Form 1099-G for unemployment in the wrong section of the program.

To enter unemployment compensation

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Under Unemployment
  • On Unemployment and Paid Family Leave, click the start or update button

Or enter unemployment compensation in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to unemployment compensation

If you had taxes withheld from the unemployment compensation -

On the screen What's the total amount you received on your 1099-G? check the box Federal or state income tax was withheld on this payment.

I have entered this Unemployment under Federal Taxes->Wages and Income-> Unemployment. The top of the page reads "1099-G Government Unemployment of Family Leave Summary."

I've deleted the payment. Clicked "Add Another Government Payment" and re-inputed the information.

I still get this message.
