US citizen studying in the UK

Hi, I'm a US citizen who lived/worked in Colorado from Jan. 1 2024 - August 31 2024 before moving to the UK on a student visa to study for a master's degree. I did not receive an income in the UK in 2024. My question is where I should put my address; the UK or where I have my US mail sent (my parents' house in Ohio)?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

When filing your U.S. taxes as a citizen living abroad, the address you list generally depends on your current situation. Since you moved to the UK in 2024 for your studies and didn't earn income there during that year, you can list either your UK address (since it's your current physical residence) or your parents' address in Ohio (where your U.S. mail is sent).

However, choosing your parents' address might make sense to ensure any tax correspondence from the IRS reaches you reliably, especially if you're concerned about delays in international mail. Additionally, the IRS allows you to use a U.S.-based address for convenience.
