Unfiled, completed return not found

I am using TurboTax 2019 on my iMac.  I completed my taxes in late March, but did not file them due to the deadline extension.  When I opened TurboTax today, automatic updates ensued, and my return was missing.  None of my work was retained.  I searched my computer for files with the extension*.tax2019 and looked in the recycle bin but I could still not find it.  How can I restore my work?

Sounds like you quit TurboTax without saving the tax file or accidentally deleted it.  If you use TimeMachine then you might be able to recover it.
