I applied for Unemployment benefits in Spring 2020 until late summer 2020 while I was furloughed from my job in the education field. During this time, I resided in the state of Texas. In the beginning of 2021, I moved to the state of Utah. When I did my taxes, I am not sure why I did not receive income tax from my months of unemployment I received in the state of Texas. What steps can I take to make sure I get to claim that unemployment refund benefit that was made available in Spring 2021? Thank you.

Hi @Donitrelo ! A lot of states no longer send a copy of your 1099G to you in the mail (and if you didn't change your address with the State of Texas, they wouldn't know where to send it if they do mail them). In order to claim the benefits of the unemployment income exclusion, you must claim the unemployment income you earned on your tax return by getting the 1099-G from Texas. To do this, it would be best to log into your account with them and find the 1099-G. If you have already filed your tax return, you will need to file an amendment to include this income, and the potential savings that the exclusion could grant.
