Please someone tell me how to get real help. The posted answers just don’t help at all.
And why do I have to keep signing in over and over and over again? It’s infuriating and I’m already stressed out.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
This is not live chat. Post a clear and complete question so someone will know how to help you.
Or....on Tuesday when the holiday weekend is over, contact customer support.

You can get real help by posting a specific question here in the community. When you post the details of your question, be sure to say whether your are using TurboTax Online or the CD/Download TurboTax software, and what version you are using (Deluxe, Premium, etc.). Do not post any personal information or contact information. This is a public web site that anyone can view.
Check out their profile. They have other posts I worked on.
It seems like you are getting most of your questions answered. But you have posted a lot of separate questions. Do not assume that someone who sees one question has seen your other questions. This is not a group discussion. When you post a question you have to include all of the relevant information so that each question stands on its own. If the replies to a particular question do not solve your problem, post a follow-up in the same thread, so that anyone who tries to help can see the previous posts.
You are not alone! This is the most agonizing time for me. Never had this problem before. I only need to do
the 1099R form but this year, they ask "Let's import your tax info"! WHY!?
I never had to do this before. Don't they - in my case - automatically get it from OPM.gov?
If you also do a simple 1099R form OR if you know how to bypass this section on the 1099R form
would you please, let me know.
Thanks
All the best
No, the system can't automatically import your tax forms from anywhere. You will have to go through the steps and either import the numbers from wherever your 1099-R is from or manually type it in your self.
@Touchofgray53 No, the software does not automatically get your 1099R. You have to enter it by hand or import it from the website of the financial institution yourself.
To enter your retirement income, Go to Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA 401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals to enter your 1099R.
Although you might be able to view or print your information from the website, most banks, brokerages and other financial institutions do not have the data formatted for import into tax software before sometime in February. So if you are wanting to enter it sooner, you have to key it in by hand. Or….wait until it is available for import.
If you want to enter it manually, click the option that says “I’ll type it in myself”
Hello,
I really appreciate you helping me! I must be a real idiot because I am still unable to pass the 'Let's import your
tax info" section. And, ESPECIALLY the "I'll type it in myself.' place.Where is it??? I get my pension from opm.gov and they send it to my credit union. = cu1.org So, which institution should I TRY to key in? It will not accept either.
Everybody can do this with a breeze ..... except me!
Please, don't give up on me!
Thank you very much.
Your pension comes from OPM, not from the credit union. The credit union just receives the money and puts it in your account. OPM issues the 1099-R. (Actually it's a CSA-1099-R.)
You can only import from financial institutions that are TurboTax import partners. OPM is not an import partner, so you cannot import your 1099-R from OPM. If you don't see an option that says "I'll type it in myself," look for a button that says "Skip Import." It might be at the very bottom of the page. Scroll all the way down to see it.
I am fully aware of that! You're not telling me anything new. ( I mentioned that elsewhere too)
The part that I AM trying to work out is to have my credit union staff understand that THEY need to fill in that
particular space so that TurboTax would accept it. Not an easy task!
