Unable to view last year 2022 Tax return file.

Help.  

I wanted to view/open my 2022 Individual Tax Return, ITR, filed last year, but could not. So, I installed Turbo Tax 2023 and hoped to use its tax keys to open the 2022 ITR file . However, I also cannot open my 2022 ITR file with extension “Tax Files (*.tax2023)”.

Note: The Individual Tax Return (ITR) file can open when it has “small red check mark” in the lower corner only . 2023 ITR can open, but 2022 IRT cannot, because Turbo Tax removed it!   What I have to do to view my last year file _ 2022 Individual Tax . Thanks.

You can only open the 2022 tax data file with the 2022 TurboTax software.  The 2022 tax data file has a file extension of .tax2022.

You can only transfer the 2022 tax data file to a 2023 tax return when starting a New 2023 return.

How did you complete the 2022 return ? Did you use the online or downloaded version?

If online get a PDF of the return from the ONLINE system.

If downloaded then you need to open the .tax2022 file using the 2022 program ... then save a PDF of the return so you can always open it up.
