Hi,
Sounds like you were a resident of California for part of 2022 and a resident of Kentucky for the rest of the year. That would make you a California part-year resident, and you would need to file a California part-year resident return. As a part-year resident you pay tax on:
- All worldwide income received while a California resident (including your 401K distribution)
- Income from California sources while you were a nonresident
