Trying to file a MT return and finally got a support ID # and talked to a really helpful lady who diagnosed the problem of having to change settings on my computer to avoid getting locked up. Clearly a glitch that needs to be fixed
Changing resolution was the key — finally got returns submitted
Yes, resolution was the key — and figuring out how to get a support ID so I could talk to someone who led me through the fix
Get a support ID number and talk to a person. It’s a resolution issue that was very frustrating but I got through it
I may have found a solution to this. Here's what I did. I switched off Wi-Fi on my Laptop and turned it back on. I reconnected and proceeded to make the payment. I did this over and over each time it froze until I got further and further into the process. While entering my address it froze again, I reconnected, but it remembered everything I had entered so I didn't loose anything. Then on the payment page, I entered my credit card info. and made the payment. I waited 30 seconds or so for the payment to register and proceeded to file my taxes. Again, the trick that worked was every time it froze, turn off your Wi-Fi and turn it back on until it starts connecting again.
There is a trick to this situation and the agent and supervisor did not know how to do it. There is a screen that comes up that says something like we can help and creates a code that the phone agent has to enter Keep calling and hopefully you fill find an agent who knows how to do that. It used to happen often, and you might have to be persistent in insisting that they resolve this for you. Opening an investigation is not going to help with this. Don't accept if they tell you that you will have to print and mail. That is not true. It may require pushing the email request to your online account. It is tricky but there are agents who know exactly how to fix this.
Thank you for providing your solution, as this will help the community. @DanP0428
The very same problem is still occurring in 2022 with the (IN) State Tax return 2021. TurboTax doesn't even accept my $25 no matter what credit card I use. I was on the telephone with a TT person for 90 minutes! They even took hold of my laptop, and TT still couldn't figure out what was wrong. After 15 years I gave TurboTax a 1/10 rating.
Did you try the solution posted by @DanP0428 above? @BoHoWo
I do not understand that answer by DanP024. He gives only advice how get the right TT agent who knows the solution. TT should post the solution, not a trick how to get an agent who knows the solution. Wait, why not include that solution in tomorrow's update?
Somebody else suggested to clean the browser's cache and cookies. I did but that didn't work either.
By the way, I was hoping that this forum was to discuss tax issues, not how to get software to work that I paid $41 for to begin with. Am I wrong?
My TT agent (who failed to solve the problem) confessed that Intuit tried to rebuild TurboTax but now it has too many issues. Did I buy for $41 not even a beta version?
That is not a solution. Say what the resolution was that didn't work, and what it should be changed to in order to get it work.
I had a similar problem with my billing address. I live in an area where there are about 90 communities that have addresses that do not match the main city name. I had to correct to my community address to get the continue button. Look for some simple error like that.
I tried that too: either use the address I typed in, or the so-called USPS generated address: none worked ... same error message: [in red block over the top of the page, after submitting the $25 to Turbo Tax]: "We are sorry, we are having trouble authorizing your credit card. Please, verify your billing address, card number and CVV and try again.] Two other curious things happened too: 1) When I sign in with my Intuit account with name and password, and you click on "Remember Me", the next time around you have to enter everything again. So, the "Remember Me" doesn't even work on the Intuit Sign In page (as a member or as a Guest). 2) A friend of mine has a brain tumor and I went over to her house (she lives in the same state I am in) and submitted her taxes using the same laptop with the same identical version of TurboTax. WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM I COULD SUBMIT HER STATE TAXES!?!?!?!? Then I had a clever idea: I am going to submit my state taxes from her house (with different router). Unfortunately, same error message, see above. By the way, anybody who thinks it is the router: since the start of these problems my WiFi network has completely been replaced: two new routers, new names, etc. I am concluding that somehow my TurboTax file is infected/corrupted somewhere and TurboTax does not refresh some bit somewhere (all these recommendations for changing the resolution of your computer etc. are too ridiculous for words: Turbo does not reset somewhere a bit that should be refreshed every time you go in and continue to work on your file). This morning Intuit made me to update TurboTax again. To no avail. Maybe I should down grade my rating from 1 to 0 (out of 10: 3 days before April 18 and TorboTax still hasn't found the cause)
When you enter your billing address, please try entering 123 Main St, your city and your state.
If that doesn't resolve your issue, please contact us at customer support so we can further assist you.
It worked if you enter your billing address, please try entering 123 Main St (rather than your actual address), your city and your state. I used "TurboTax Premier Desktop 2021 for US Windows Download" and it worked like charm
