TurboTax Premium Online will allow you to upload a .PDF of an IRS form 1099-B.
The .PDF is transmitted to the IRS and a copy of the IRS form 1099-B does not have to be mailed to the IRS.
This function is not supported in the TurboTax Desktop products.
You may enter the summary information into TurboTax Premium Online by following these steps:
In order to switch to the online version I assume I would need to purchase it. But I have already purchases the desktop version that I am currently using. Or is there a way to switch from desktop to the online version?
You can switch to TurboTax Online, but you can't transfer your current tax file. You can only transfer in your 2023 return, so you would have to re-enter all of your information - see How do I transfer from desktop to online?
You can e-file your return from the desktop software - and mail in the 1099-B after you e-file. See this TurboTax FAQ for the address.
Also, if you enter your sales, one by one, instead of in a summary, you can avoid having to mail the 1099-B.
