Turbotax says CA residents can file thru nov 16, but to do turbotax online, you have until oct 31. Today is oct 29, but turbotax is not letting me file online

the only option is to purchase and download a desktop product, which turbotax explicitly states in the email instructions sent to me i would not need to do until nov 1

The 2022 tax return can no longer be e-filed.  When in the File section of the online program you have to select File by mail for the tax return.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
