TurboTax requires me to list OK and TX on my W2 to account for my move from OK to TX (while my W2 only list OK since TX has no income tax). Why is TurboTax doing this?

TX has no income tax, so only 4 months were charged against OK before the move of work office locations.  Is there a way for TuboTax to account for this move while not requiring me to "fake" my W2 by adding TX state income (with now state EID) with the amount earned in TX?

If you moved from Oklahoma to Texas in 2023 you should have indicated that in the My Info section of the program.  Entering Texas as your resident state and Oklahoma as the state that you moved from with the date of the move.

Since Texas does not have a personal income tax you need to leave boxes 15 thru 20 blank (empty) on the W-2 you are entering.  And only enter any Oklahoma state income taxes withheld by your employer on the W-2 in boxes 15 thru 17.

Several  states do not have a state income tax.  So these states will not show up in certain drop down lists.   Leave boxes 15, 16, and 17 blank when you enter a W-2 for these states.

Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming

To "account" for your move----in My Info you will be asked if you made money in any other states.   That is where you can indicate that you lived and/or worked in more than one state.  And...make sure you are using your current TX address on your tax return so that the IRS knows where to send you a letter or a check.
