I'm trying a couple of discounts, such as $15 off Deluxe, or $20 off.
The full price of Deluxe is $59 Federal (right?).
So take this affiliate link, for example:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/lp/aff/3487?&priorityCode=[phone number removed]
It leads to a Turbotax landing page that says in big letters "save up to $20". And the prices below are... exactly the same as always.
So where is that saving?!
This has nothing to do with being signed in or out of the account, cache, incognito, etc... it's their own page. (And I have tried those methods too.)
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Where did you get that link?
What is the name of the affiliate offering the discount that you are interested in? Often it's a bank, credit union, insurance company, travel club, etc.
If an offer is "up to $20" off, that usually means:
$10 off Deluxe ($59 reduced to $49)
$15 off Premier
$20 off Self-Employed
One normally goes first to the affiliate partner's website (without going to regular TurboTax website). At the partner's website there should be an offer page with a special link to TurboTax products. You have to use that link on the partner site, and then you should see a page with the discounted products. On the page that shows all the products and pricing, the normal price will have a line drawn through it, and there will be the lower price adjacent to it. You have to select the product there and start a TurboTax return there on that special site, and go there to work on and finally file from that special affiliate TurboTax website. That's how TurboTax knows to apply the discount.
If you've already been using TurboTax or been to the TurboTax website before going to the affiliate partner's website, you would need to empty browser cache, deleted any TurboTax cookies, etc., or it will remember that you were using regular TurboTax. Only by starting fresh at the affiliate site does it know to apply the discount, and then going there to work on it and file from the affiliate site.
FAQ: How do I get my TurboTax affiliate partner discount?
I provided some additional detail to the points above to clarify. If you were emailed the previous answer, it did not contain everything. You should return to the forum to see the full answer.
Hi, thank you for the quick and attentive answer.
Here are two affiliates for example, CNet and US News. They offer $10 and $20 off Deluxe, respectively.
https://coupons.cnet.com/coupons/turbotax
https://deals.usnews.com/coupons/turbotax
When you click through the applicable buttons and arrive to the Turbotax site, the Deluxe price is $59 as always, no red line, no adjacent price.
I have tested both links in 2 different browsers (one of which I never use, so the cache doesn't get clogged), as well as in Incognito mode. Identical results. Try it yourself.
I tried it on the first one, and I experienced the same thing you did. I only saw the regular undiscounted prices.
I'm not used to coupons and deals such as those. Normally I see people using direct links from banks, credit unions, mutual fund companies, brokerages, insurance companies, etc. As an example, I just went to the USAA website, found the TurboTax offer, and followed the links to the special site, where the following was displayed:

Sorry I can't advise you on the two deals you mentioned. I don't know if the discount would ultimately be applied or not, but I'd be suspicious like you. Perhaps it would apply it at the end when checking out, but I don't know, and if it were me, I'd like to know upfront. I do know that regardless of the affiliate partner you use, when you're at the stage to pay the bill, review it carefully. If you're not getting a discount, don't pay it. TurboTax Support will not provide a discount after someone has already paid, and in general Support will not provide product refunds for Online TurboTax.
If you want to talk to TurboTax Support about those deals, here's how to reach them:
