I used TurboTax's Quick Employer Forms to e-file my forms 1099-NEC and W-2s for my business. I e-filed all the forms at once, only ONE time. However, I received duplicate confirmation emails for each person stating the forms at been e-filed, and both emails were sent at the exact same time.
I grew suspicious that TurboTax had e-filed everything TWICE, which was confirmed when the duplicate W-2s were rejected by the SSA stating there was already a form on file for that person for the tax year.
The issue is with the 1099-NECs. I've read that the IRS just accepts both of them, so I need to correct this TurboTax error so that my contractors don't get a letter from the IRS for underreporting.
I read to fix this, I need to file ONE corrected 1099-NEC with $0 for each contractor. That will cancel out one of the duplicate forms for that contractor, leaving just the original 1099-NEC with the correct amount.
Because I e-filed the original forms, I have to e-file the corrected 1099-NEC. However, TurboTax will NOT allow me to file a corrected 1099-NEC for $0. It gives me an error saying I can't file a $0 form.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this? Are there are e-file options where I can file a corrected 1099 for $0? I'm really frustrated that TurboTax e-filed all the forms TWICE when I only e-filed them ONCE.

Try entering $.01 in the amount field and see if that works.
Another way to file corrected Form 1099-NEC is directly with the IRS. Here is a link to their website.
Thanks for the tips, Shannon! I read that I have to submit any corrected 1099s via the same way the original 1099s were filed. For example, I can't submit the corrections via a paper return if I e-filed the original. The article also said I have to e-file corrections using the same e-file method, too. They said I can't mix FIRE e-filings with IRIS correction e-filings, so I think I have to figure out a way to e-file the correction with the FIRE e-file method (which I assume TurboTax is using?) and not the IRIS filing method.
It's a mess. I'm really frustrated that TurboTax transmitted my forms twice and created this issue. I have alerted TurboTax to the issue of the Quick Employer Forms not allowing a $0 corrected form, as filing a $0 corrected 1099 is the way to fix many filing issues and is very common.
