In past years when I would save my return and then exit TurboTax and then reenter it later, TurboTax would go back to where I left off in the interview screens, but I cannot get it to do that this year? What should I do?

I have been using Turbo Tax for years. This year it is incrediblyy difficult to log in and go back to where I left off. I have read numerous responses to this problem in this community and I still have no idea why Turbo Tax has made it to difficult for a user to continue where they left off as a very easy to find option instead of what you all have posted. You say do this but don't mention what tab that option is under and when I look at each tab it isn't shown as an option. Can you answer this question in easy to folllow instructions? And can Turbo Tax correct this situation to make this program more user friendly?
You are commenting on an older thread that may have outdated information. We need additional details to be able to assist you further. What specific task are you trying to complete in the software?
I use the desktop Turbo Tax, not the online. I have used TT for many years.
The specific task I am trying to complete is to pick up where I left off in my tax preparation so I can complete it.
In the past when I finish working on my taxes I save them and log out. Days later when I logged back in it took me to where I left off. Now it does not take me to where I left off.
In reading posts about others that have had the same problems they say various ways to get back to where you left off. Do this or do that, click on this then on that. When I try I don't have the same options in my Turbo Tax as are offered here.
I am a private party, not a tax professional. When I click continue return it should take me to where I left off so I can continue, but instead it takes me to the beginning. I don't always remember exactly where I left off.
Is there any reason Turbo Tax can't be made user friendly?
This same question is asked year after year.
I have this same issue. Every time I sign on I am back at the Getting Started with Turbo Tax page. One of the advantages of Turbo Tax was having the software remember where I left off...
Yes, if you are working in TurboTax Online, sometimes your browser just signs you in, and it takes you back to the beginning as if you never started your return.
If this happens to you in TurboTax Online, sign out. This will bring you back to where you sign in. If it shows you more than one user name, select the user name you are using this year and sign in again.
If after you sign in, you aren't seeing the spot where you left off, select the section you were working on, Income, Deductions, etc. This will bring you to a list of topics and you should be able to find your spot from there.
**bleep** TurboTax! What a hassle. Sometimes it does and most times it doesn't restart where saved. After all these years it's about time to get things right.
I use the desktop version; follow this step.
"File->Sign in" this should be done only once
"File->open your tax return file"
Now, TurboTtax will take you where you left
Thanks for response. It does not seem to matter how I access my saved tax info. Program sometimes restarts at initial "personal info" step: "getting started with turbotax". Not sure why it does not always just take me back to where I saved it.
I always use desktop version.
Hi GERR, just wanted to clarify that after you start TurboTax, get the empty form page - "First Name: ..."
then select "File" menu; do you see "sign in as <your user id>" as one of the "File" menu option together with the return file name?
