The W-2 has an entry in Box 14 with Description Overtime Wages, and a dollar amount, and I have selected Overtime for the Category. In Step-by-Step, in Federal Review, the following window displays:
Check This Entry
Form W-2 (Company Name): Overtime method should be selected since you had information on your W-2. If you do not have qualified overtime to report, select 'Enter overtime manually', then enter $0 dollars qualified overtime
O No entry
O Use overtime calculator
O Enter overtime manually
There should be an option for Use the amount for the Overtime Category in Box 14, and then a question whether this amount is just the Premium Amount. If the answer to this question is Yes, I should not have to answer any additional questions or enter any amounts. Turbotax just needs to know that this amount is just the Premium Amount. Turbotax in the following questions asks what the 150 percent or 200 percent amount is, or to enter the amount manually. Why should I have to enter either of these amounts, which I would have to calculate if Box 14 has only the Premium Amount (when an Amount is entered into one of these (150 percent or 200 percent) boxes, Turbotax calculated the Premium Amount (either dividing by 1/3 or by 1/2), so I cannot just use the amount in Box 14, and why should I enter the overtime manually, when the amount is on the W-2, which I have entered? Turbotax is forcing a calculation or a manual entry, when it is not that complicated when the Overtime amount is in Box 14 on the W-2, and, actually, if there is an Overtime amount in Box 14, it is supposed to be the Premium Amount, so even the question whether the amount is the Premium Amount is not really needed. If the Employer got that amount wrong, what makes Turbotax think that when I ask the Employer whether it is only the Premium Amount, that the Employer will suddenly get it right?
