When you use desktop software, there is an additional fee to e-file a state return. You can avoid that fee if you print, sign and mail the state return.
No, doing the taxes all on line. They let you do them and then charge you when you file. Doesn't say what they will be charging. I would need it in writing before I started. Otherwise, they could just charge whatever at that time and I would have to redo my taxes elsewhere. With the CD you know what you are paying. I only found one place that had a price, but it is a sale price and could change by the time I filed my taxes.
How can I see my TurboTax fees?
If your TurboTax fees are higher than expected, you can reduce them by removing add-ons (BEFORE you e-file) :

I just tested it, and it appears the current early-season price (with discount) for Deluxe is $49 for Federal (discounted from $79) and $39 for state (discounted from $64.) Be aware that the early-season discounts historically have disappeared after February 28, and the prices increased to the "regular" undiscounted prices on March 1. So if you haven't paid by Feb. 28, they will most likely increase. TurboTax also occasionally offers some other short-lived specials during filing season. The TurboTax offer terms state that "prices are subject to change at any time." So to lock in a price, one would need to pay for the product in advance. TurboTax also states: "Unless otherwise specified, strikethrough prices reflect anticipated final, undiscounted prices for tax year 2025." That implies to me that they don't expect the final undiscounted price for Deluxe after Feb. 28 to be higher than $79 for Federal and $64 for state.
