Turbotax cannot import PDF. Need more information about WHY it cannot import PDF?

Turbotax says to import a PDF of the W2 , but then says i cannot import the PDF, why ?

"It depends on whether you are using TurboTax Online, or TurboTax software installed on your computer.

If you are using TurboTax Online, you are trying to import the form from your computer to the TurboTax Online website, so you would need to be connected to the internet. 

If you are using TurboTax software, and you are starting by entering your EIN on the page that says, Let's start with a bit of info from your W-2, the program is‌ trying to pull the information from your employer, not from the PDF on your computer. 

Make sure that this is where you are trying to upload your PDF:

1. Sign in to your TurboTax account, or open your return in the software.
2. Select  Wages & Income.
3. To the right of Job (W-2), select Edit/ Add.
4. Select Add new W-2.
5. Leave box b blank and select Continue.
6. Select Upload it from your computer, and follow the on-screen directions to complete the upload.
