TurboTax 2024 will not install with Windows 10. It asks for Visual Basic 2022 C++ Redistributable, but that will not download, as it is an incompatible file. Intuit Help Desk doesn't know what to do! Can anyone help?

The Visual C++ Redistributable installs Microsoft C and C++ (MSVC) runtime libraries. Many applications built using Microsoft C and C++ tools require these libraries. If your app uses those libraries, a Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package must be installed on the target system before you install your app.
Try the download for X64 linked in this Microsoft Visual C and C++ article.
You propose that I download Visual 2022 C++. That doesn't work. That is the exact program that I have been trying to download and is incompatible. If I could download it, I could install TurboTax 2024.
did you ever get a response from turbotax? Im getting an install error related to C++ also. I have installed at least 4 years of this program and never had an issue. I see the C++ file but get an unavailable on this network resource then says it cant find it. I should have just bought the disc
I have not gotten a response from the TurboTax community that is helpful. I talked with TurboTax twice, but they said that they could not resolve the issue. Told me to call the Geek Squad. My computer says that Visual C++ is an incompatible file. I am hoping that enough of us will complain that TurboTax will resolve the issue. I do know of another person that has this issue besides you & I.

Thanks for your help. I did what you suggested & now it tells me that there is an error in reading the installation file. I tried it 3 times and got the same error. Can you help with that,
So after completing the steps that you suggested, I got the message that it could not read the installation file (error). I restarted & again get the message that Visual C++ has an error in installing. I am beginning to believe that I must get a new computer with windows 11 on it or buy a program other than TurboTax.
This solution does not work. Whether you go to microsoft via turbotax install or go directly to microsoft you get a message "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."
So, I have determined after hours & hours on the line with TurboTax Help desk & Community suggestions that the only way to fix this this problem is to buy a new computer with Windows 11 on it! That is what I have done and have no issues. My 2024 taxes are now almost complete.
I was wondering if your previous system was a 32-bit computer.
I think TX desktop now requires a 64-bit CPU system.....and that could be the issue for other folks too.
Try uninstalling/reinstalling. I installed TurboTax 2024 for Windows Desktop myself on my laptop last night, with Windows 10.
A screen popped up asking if I want to install Visual C++. I said Yes, and then the rest of the install went smoothly.
Mine was 64 bit. As stated earlier, I bought a new computer with Windows 11 & that fixed the issue. Would have to do that by October anyway.
The lack of the redistributable caused my TT 2024 installation to fail, and the Intuit support person was totally useless and rude to me about what I saw and he could not accept and would not believe. The install did not try to load the VC++, nor did it warn me. It acted as if the installation was done, but when I tried to open TT, it immediately crashed. My manual install of VC++ resolved the issue.
Barney:
There is no good solution. TurboTax support doesn't know what to do. I have to have a new computer in October because Windows 10 will no longer be supported. So, I bought one now with Windows 11 on it. I now have loaded TurboTax & my taxes are complete. That is the best solution, unfortunately there is the cost of a new computer. As I said, we face that in October anyway.
Good luck!
Bill
