Thanks, the last time I tried that, I did break out.
I'm in the same boat. I hit the screen where it asks if I had any capital loss carryover amounts. I answer yes, it pops up a screen showing said losses. I click continue, meaning I accept what transferred from 2020. It shows a summary. I click continue. Asks if I received form 2439, I respond no. Then asks if I have and straddles or 1256 contracts, I answer no. Then it asks if bought any ISO. I answer no. It comes back to the summary screen for investments, I click on done, and it drops me right back into the question Do you know your capital loss carryover amounts. I say yes, and we are right back cycling through the same questions. How do I report a bug and get support? I've spent the last 2 hours scouring the site and all I can find is this, which is no help. I want to know how to report a bug and get resolution.
@tjschultz12853 If you look earlier in this same thread you will find a link to a page on the TT website about this issue where you can sign up for notifications - they already know it is a bug. I seem to recall that that page says "solved", or some such, but I think that may just be because there is a workaround (also described in several places earlier in this thread.) JRJ
It is not solved, and the "work around" is no more than that. It does not provide us with a step by step walk us through our taxes, so we do not miss anything. I spent yesterday trying to get someone on the phone, and get an answer from their social media sites, and other efforts. Waste of time. No luck getting to support, or a person, or an employee, or any place to report a bug, or get a status on when it will be corrected, and we can do our taxes. So we all just sit, unable to complete our taxes - and no employee has stepped up to advise us on where TTx is. Waste of our money over many years with TTx. Maybe this is the last year for all of us. If TTx can get their act together, or at least keep us updated, why stay loyal to the brand. They should be offering us LIVE as a BU, and a substitute so we can get our taxes done. Hey TTx - Where art thou?
@LB641 Yes, I agree it is NOT fixed. Yes, the workaround is just that. Not trying to defend them. But, having decades of experience using TT, I can assure you that it will NOT likely be fixed anytime soon. It just isn't their way to fix anything that doesn't have a calculation or form error. Yes, that is frustrating as all get out. But wasting time trying to get them on the phone will not likely help - they are already aware of the issue. The link for the *existing* bug report already appears earlier in this thread.
[Sometimes I wonder if there is some kind of "certification" hurdle that causes them to avoid fixing things like this - or the fact that when they import from American Funds they always end up with a 0% of the total RMD and will not convert that to the requisite blank (no total RMD) - so thousands end up having to do that manually every freaking year.]
As far as brand loyalty, I have none. Yes, TT doesn't fix a lot of stuff. But I have tried others, including TaxACT (though not recently) and HR Block (the HR Block software as for business - it was SO AWFUL that we ended up purchasing TT Business that same year so my wife could get her LLC taxes together.)
That said, I would not worry about missing anything: just go to step by step and click each "Start", "Update" or "Visit All" button - that is all the walkthrough does, anyway. Personally, I'd much rather live with this and other "quirks" in TT desktop than use live and put my data on their web servers in the cloud.
The same thing happened to me. I saved the file and closed TT. I cleared my cache and restarted my pc and the problem did not come back.
Hello,
Are you using Desktop Turbo Tax 2021 Premier and NOT Turbo Tax online? As Desktop User Turbo Tax 2021 Premier the problem is still happened and still having the loop on investment income section and it does not resolved. Please help regarding that. When will be helping to resolve that? The problem does not resolve it and still having the same issues. Please let us know and thanks, on 02.20.2022.
Like many others, I encountered the same problem. I was able to get around it by backing out of guided mode. This seems to indicate a lack of basic QA testing of the product though. Are there more serious problems I didn't notice caused by the lack of software testing? I'm a bit reluctant to file my return using this flawed version of TurboTax.
@brucegiord I agree on the QA point, for sure. They must be rolling in huge profits from TT (and state filing fees) and yet there is always this kind of garbage going on.
That said, these sorts of "quirks" don't seem to affect the accuracy of the return - and they do have an accuracy guarantee. (But THAT said, I also always do mine with a spreadsheet BEFORE I do TT. In so doing I almost always find errors in the spreadsheet when I later do it with TT, but also typically find places where I missed or miss-entered stuff into TT.)
I am having same issue with loop, also the error message 00007 or what ever it is after updating,I asked amazon for refund this is un acceptable, there is other good tax programs out there and it looks like loyal customers gets punished instead of havind their issues addressed ASAP ...
I'm having the same issue - looping endlessly when I enter capital loss carryover.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for this bug and sign up for updates - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/income/help/why-am-i-stuck-in-a-loop-in-the-investment-income-sect...
I'm having the same problem. Stuck in a loop on investments. No way to break out of it. Waiting for tech support hold. Pretty shoddy.
Same problem today 2/23/2022 and I just installed TT 2021
I actually got through to the intuit presidents office and gave a detailed description of the issue as well as discussing the need for an easy way to report bugs…without having to email the corporate president!
