I was using Mac CD version. My OS is Catalina. I spent 2 hours with tech support on the phone, without resolving the issue, including clearing the cache and a clean installation. A couple of days later, I tried logging in as another user, and launching TurboTax 2020. This was successful, and I was able to complete my tax forms and submit them online. Since TurboTax has had this issue for two tax seasons, I hope it gets resolved soon...
Yes, the same thing just happened to me. I was literally 2 clicks away from filing my last set of taxes and it just quit and will not reopen. All of the data is already in there, if I log in with another user, I can't imagine how I would access it. I already cleared the cache and cookies. Not looking forward to a nightmare with the customer tech support. My OS is Big Sur, this just seems insane.
What I did was to save my return to a thumb drive. When I logged in as another user, I could access the tax return from the thumb drive. Hope this helps.
Thank you, glad it helped you. But my program wont even open. I can't open it to even access the file to save it. I'm on hold with customer service now, and will throw this out if they are unable to fix it, maybe they can walk me through it. Thanks again.
Your tax return should have a file name separate from the tax software. You don’t need to open the software to copy this file to a thumb drive. That is, if you had to use the tax software in more than one session, the software itself would have saved a copy of your return up to the point of the last session.
Wow, that could be HUGE. DIdn't realize you could read the file without the program. I have definitely saved the important parts. Thank you!! (45 min on with tech support and so far she's sent me two links that don't open....not hopeful for a reasonable solution from TurboTax.) THANK YOU
