Probably the Desktop state E-file fee.

The price of the Desktop state E-file fee changes from $20 to $25 ....usually on 1 March of every year

...........(going back a number of years, the state E-file price increase has also been on March 1st).

This will be my last year using turbotax.  Fees are too high compared to competitors.

Every March the early prices expire and increase.  In the Desktop CD/Download program the State Efile fee is $20 but increases to 25.

But there will be a delay in Desktop program between March 1 when the price goes up and the next time the program update comes out, usually on Thursdays.  It will show the $20 efile price but you be charged 25.  Or the $40 for a state program instead of the increase to 45.

Yes, Individuals who are self-employed are able to deduct the cost of the tax preparation fees, including tax software or working with a professional.  This would be be deductible.

While tax preparation fees can't be deducted for personal taxes, they are considered an “ordinary and necessary” expense for business owners.
