I just finished my taxes using TT Premier for Windows desktop.
Now my son and daughter (college students) are trying to install my TT Premier on their laptops and do their taxes. However, they are hitting a roadblock - something about "need same account to install the license key" or something like that.
Doesn't TT Premier allow 5 installations? Do they have to buy their own TT Premier? Please help!

You can install Turbo Tax on 5 computers YOU OWN. You would have to give them your online account info to activate the program. But they will not see your info and returns. The returns are only kept on the computer they were done on. They are not stored or saved on Turbo Tax online. They can still use their account to efile their own returns.
And the license has always been….you can install it on 5 computers YOU OWN. You are not suppose to share it. This year they are enforcing it.
Documents stored in your online account. See this thread. The last post on page 4 says he found a way to delete them…..

Hi Volvo Girl!
Thanks for your great answer! I do OWN my son's and daughter's laptops because I paid for them, they are my dependents.
Question: once they install TT using my account, how do they use THEIR ACCOUNTS to efile their own returns? Aren't they stuck to my account?
i use desktop. when i went to my online account I found it had copies of documents that I imported. I assume if they are granted access they will be able to review any documents the taxpayer imported.
TRY THIS: Take it off your computer and it will probably load on one of theirs. You paid for one application so can't have two going at same time even if one not used.
Mike9241,
Oh My God! You're right! I logged into my online account and went to "Documents" and all the documents I uploaded to the online version in 2024 are there! In 2025 I used desktop only and non of those forms/docs are in the online account
HOW DO I DELETE THESE DOCUMENT FROM MY ONLINE TT ACCOUNT??????

VolvoGirl,
It's last post on page 5, not 4, but THANK YOU so much. This worked to delete all my online docs! VolvoGirl is awesome!
On my screen it is on page 4, no page 5. Anyway I'll paste it here for anyone else......
Solved!
I too have 1099s from this year on the documents page online on the intuit account page. If I use the left menu, overview and then documents, I get my 1099s with no way to delete them.
Instead if I select left menu, overview, then right menu, Quick actions, manage subscription, select turbo tax,
then Turbo tax online 2023 (I didn't do an online in 2023), tax returns and documents and now the same documents are available with the three dots, download, edit and delete.
Hope this helps.
