TT won't let me save and print my return with a foreign address. I do NOT want to e-file, I simply need to save and print a hard copy for mailing. But it keeps sending me back to the Personal Info section wanting a US address, which is NOT what I want printed on my return. What is the workaround to get my return saved, but then printed out with my correct foreign address? This is the first year I have had this problem. Last year was fine.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
In the Personal Info section, on the screen where you enter your mailing address, delete all the address information that you entered. Above the address there is a drop-down list that says "U.S. Address." Click the arrow to open the drop-down list, and select "Foreign Address." Then enter your foreign address.
This has not helped. I went back into Personal Info, cleared all the info, then reentered foreign address, still end up in this circle where it won't let me save or print without telling me my address and zip code is invalid. This is frustrating, we have filed with TT for 19 years with a foreign address and this is the first year this has happened.
Are you trying to pay the TT fees in the FILE tab ? Are you using a US credit card with a US billing address ?
I have already paid and, yes, used a US credit card with our former US address, but this is NOT the address I want on our tax return. And this is the first year I have struck this problem, every year til now has been fine.
Hmmmm.... never heard of such a thing. You may need to clear cookies and/or switch browsers.
Try printing/saving the PDF from the print center ... log in, scroll down and click on ADD A STATE to open the account if it is closed. Then click on TOOLS in the menu bar lower left and choose the print center.
Tried a different browser, same outcome, and now - I think because I entered our former US address in the payment info with the credit card - it's asking me to do a State tax return and I don't need to!! It won't let me out of the circle. This is obviously some technical glitch new this year as it's the first time it's ever happened and if I can't "finish" and save my return, TT won't roll over my info for next year's return so I might as well find a different tax prep software. Sigh.....
Yes, I've been having the exact same problem. I just found a way to download some sort of file in tax t[product key removed]ul links-save your 2019 return to your computer. However, I can't open the file, as it's not a PDF. Apparently I don't have the right software (looks like a file used to amend TT). I had to revert to inputting a US address on the part to pay, when I haven't lived there for ages. When I downloaded the file, it still had my foreign address at least.
Yes, I know I can download it and have saved it to my computer, I can print and mail from there, but because it isn't technically "finished" and saved in TurboTax, it won't roll over all my information to next year. I will have to start afresh next year, that is disappointing. I think I will be looking for a tax prep software program that better handles foreign returns. TT was great up until now.
