TT 2023 Failed to import TT 2022 1040

I loaded TT2023 onto my iMac but when I directed it to import from my TT 2022 it basically skipped everything and pushed me into preparing the TT2023 return.

How do I get back and have TT2023 import my 2022 1040 so I don’t have to hunt down things like refunds from last year?

That would require starting over.     The transfer of the 2022 tax file in to 2023 has to happen at the very beginning----before you enter any new 2023 data at all.   When you launch the program, the first screen asks you if you want to transfer a return.   You have to click on it and choose the tax file that you want to transfer to the new return.

Go up to the top of your TT screen and click File---then the drop down will appear and you can choose New Return

To transfer into the Mac program you have to start a new return.  You need the tax file ending in .tax2022 to transfer into 2023.

Don't go up to "File" on the TT toolbar within the program instead go up to the very top of the Mac's screen, way up to top left of the screen.   There is a little apple there in the corner.  Next to it, if you have TT open, it will show TurboTax.  To the right of those words you can click on File and get the drop down that will give you  "New Tax Return" so that you can start over.

Mac automatically saves the .tax files.  But you may have to search for it.
