Trying to enter a state income tax refund under a 1099-G; my options are taxable grant, Agriculture pp, Market gain, Reemployment or Business/Farm refund. What do I do?

You'll need to indicate that the type of 1099-G you wish to enter is a state or local income tax refund and not an other government payment. (Click the screenshot below for reference.) 

To enter your state income tax refund:

• Open (continue) your return in TurboTax Online. (If your return isn't open, you'll need to sign in and click Take me to my return.)
• Click My Account (top right of your screen).
• Select Tools.
• In the pop-up window, select Topic Search.
• In the search bar, type 1099-g.
• In the results box, highlight 1099-g, then click GO.
• You'll land on Did you have any of these types of income? Click Yes. 
• Next you'll see State and local tax refunds and other government payments. Select State or local income tax refunds, then click Continue. 
• Follow the onscreen instructions to enter the state tax refund.

Note: If using the TurboTax CD/Download software, you'll use the Find function (instead of "My Account") to search for the topic.
