Trouble transferring last year's return

I have just downloaded TurboTax Deluxe and am trying to transfer last year's return to start this year's return. Initially, last year's return was not displayed even though it is in the same directory as all my turbotax files.  I clicked the link to manually find the file and transfer it. I got a pop up saying it was calculating, however, no info was transferred. I opened last year's return with last year's turbotax and everything was ok with the file so the transfer to 2024 should work since the file is not corrupted. The 2023 return is now also displayed in the select a file to transfer list. I have tried selecting it and transferring it that way rather than manually and get the same result. I am using desktop software on the same Mac for both years.
