Transferring 2023 tax file to 2024 isn't correct information

As I begin my 2024 TURBOTAX Business Desktop, TurboTax prompts me to transfer my 2023 tax information. The file they suggest is a file with the extension ".tax2023". After the program uploaded last year's return, I started completing the 2024, but the previous year's deductions are incorrect.

I opened the 2023 program, checked the income and deductions. 2023 data was correct. I saved the 2023 return, again.   I then deleted TT Business 2024, restarted my computer, and reinstalled 2024. I transferred my newly created .tax2023 and the information is still incorrect.  I attempted to transfer using the "PDF" saved copy, but this is a "html pdf", since I don't have an installed reader and was, therefore, and unacceptable file extension.

This appears to be an Intuit software problem.  Can I get some help, please?

It appears I was tricked.  The current year tallies both employee salaries AND officer salaries (Green), the imported prior year return only shows the salaries of employees (Far right yellow versus the previous year's total).

I don't know why the program doesn't compare the same items, but that is Turbotax (Intuit) for you!

Since we can't see your returns in this forum, I would recommend that you Contact TurboTax Support for individualized help.

Are your TurboTax Programs 2023 and 2024 both installed on your C drive?  Is your recently saved 2023 tax file also on your C drive?

If so, it's a mystery why a correct saved 2023 tax file would transfer incorrectly into 2024, especially since you have re-installed your 2024 program.

How about temporarily disabling anti-virus programs during the transfer?

If you get a solution, please post it  so any others with the same issue can benefit.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, everything is on the C drive.  I already did my entire '24 return, with the incorrect '23 data. I don't know if this will effect my efile ability. I'll try the anti-virus pause. and get back to you.

Disabling the antiviral didn't help.

Another consideration for you to consider is the following: If I double click on the 2023 business file, the file opens using Home Premium Edition (for my personal returns). I tried right clicking on the 2023 business file and chose "Open with" and used the Business '23 app to open the file. Again, the file was opened with Home Edition. The only way to access the Business 2023 file is to FIRST open the Turbotax Business 2023 app and then choose the same (correct) file.

There's some kind of conflict with the Business app and the Home edit app, perhaps. I even tried changing my Windows settings for "Default app", assigning 2023 business app as the default and then 2024 app. Nothing works.

The conflict may be having two versions of 2024 TurboTax on your computer; even though one is the Business version.  Try moving the home version and related files to a removable drive, and just work with Business program and files.

You could verify this with the techs, and they can get into your computer for diagnosis. Here's Contact TurboTax Support

FYI - Both the personal program and the Business program use the same file extensions.  The files for both end in the same .tax2023.  You'll have to tell the files apart from their names.  If you can't tell which is which then open your Business program and  open the 2023 return and save it with a name you can tell apart from your personal return.  Same for personal.  Open Premier and open your 1040 return and save it with a different name.
