Total 2023 tax liability

I am working on my AL state return and the program is asking for my total 2023 tax liability.  I owed the fed and state and made the shortage payments in  2024.  This is my first time doing my taxes and I am confused on what to input. Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you have never filed taxes before your AL tax liability would be $0. 

If you did file a 2023 return, you can find your tax liability on line 21 of your AL form 40.
