Timeshare 1099 Income

I got a 1099-Misc for timeshare rental income for a timeshare I did not use last year.  I assume I can deduct the maintenance fee for the year, but what Schedule should I use to do that?  Schedule E, Schedule C or Nonbusiness income from rental of personal property?

Timeshare 1099 Income

You should use Schedule E since you are not "in the business" of renting the timeshare.

You can enter your rental income and expenses by following these steps in TurboTax online:

  1. Within your tax return, click  Wages & Income in the black menu bar on the left
  2. Click Show more for Rental Properties and Royalties (Sch E)
  3. Click Start for Rental Properties and Royalties (SchE)
