This afternoon, 2/10/2025 at about 12:45 p.m., I ran TurboTax and when I got to the screen that said "We Guarantee Maximum Refund ... I pressed "Continue" and it froze. It also froze when I tried to use directly the "file electronically" function and the "File Taxes" tab.

After having to abort the program a half-dozen times because it got hung up, one time I just let it spin "not responding" for 3-4 minutes and it freed up allowing me to finish. (This was the downloaded desktop version, not online.)
I have not seen any issues with my imports for 1099's from financial institutions.
I've had problems and receiving errors all this week! I can't get Turbo Tax Business Desktop 2024 to open or update so I can't submit electronically. It says my software is out of date. I've spent hours trying to re-start and restart and restart the software. Here's my error screen. What do I do?
The blank screen problem was corrected by "run as administrator" on my Win 11 with TTAX Deluxe 2024 Desktop edition. Much time was wasted on trying to solve this problem. The TTax phone and online help was unable to solve the issue. SteamTrain's online message did work for me. Intuit operations assumes everyone purchasing their software can wait to file until the last TTAX update before the April due date. Software errors and customer service has gotten worse each year since 2015. Quality control testing when code is changed appears non-existent.
I loaded 2024 home and business 2 weeks ago. Went into it 2 weeks later and it won't run. Have uninstalled and reloaded 8 times. still no luck. Got it to work on another computer. Have cleared all data, have no virus on, restarted, etc. no luck .... i consider that a BIG glitch.
I get a blank screen and am unable to enter any details for:
This is as far as I've gotten so I don't know yet if the scope of the problem extends elsewhere. I have the 2024 TurboTax Deluxe download edition. For someone that has used TurboTax for many years, this is extremely frustrating. Given that it is now 2/15/2025, this should have been fixed long ago. Someone posted an earlier reply with a work around using Windows 11, which my computer doesn't support. I have Windows 10 Home with a 64-bit operating system. Windows 10 by the way is on the compatibility list for the 2024 TurboTax software.
The link for TurboTax Customer Service provided earlier by "xmasbaby0" (on page 1) does not work. Does anyone have a customer support phone number that works?
Here's some things to try for Blank Screen, Missing Buttons or Images.
For TurboTax Desktop, you can also try Deleting Schedule A and re-populating it through the interview screens.
Here's how to Contact TurboTax Support.
Thank You to everyone that responded. The first thing that I tried immediately fixed the issue. I closed the software and reopened it by clicking "Run as Administrator". No more blank screens! Thanks again.
Yes we are experiencing issues with entered 1099 amounts being misdirected to our Schedule E. Some times being applied to blank columns. TT needs to clean up their act. TT 2024 is even more buggy that TT 2023.
Every year it seems to be of lower reliability. :( Not a happy customer and I have been using TT since the 80s.
YES!!!
Just a quick add-on to customer issues. I'm a retired senior and have never had to pay for filing with TurboTax because I use the short 1040 form. This year I started with the 'free' version and after I had entered my1099-INT data, the version changed to Deluxe! I didn't really pay attention until I saw what the federal filing amount was.
Pretty sneaky to just randomly add a fee for a form that is used by many consumers for interest on savings, etc.
I spoke with their customer service people and it was to no benefit. The sad part is there's no information from TurboTax regarding this added amount for a form that was free last year. It would have been nice to know before I wasted my time with their software! So frustrating that a company this size has to screw with the consumer to make more money!
I installed TT Deluxe on Mon 17 Feb. It all worked fine with Win 11. Last Win update was 2/13.
I did my Federal taxes and started on State. On Tues I saw Windows wanted to do an update, so I ran it. Now on Win 11 24H2.
And Turbo Tax won't open at all. I start it and immediately get the "Looks like we've run into an error" window. I don't even get far enough to get the message about how it's taking a little longer than a minute....
It's now Wed morning. I uninstalled TT, restarted computer, went back to TT Install page and downloaded latest install package.
Same problem. I can't even begin to open TT.
Tried calling on the phone. Got someone who had me run cmd to check file structure. All OK. He's the one who said uninstall and reinstall.
Now I've been trying to get back on the phone with someone, but the auto-voice person is so dumb it's taken me 3 phone calls to finally get a live person.
I installed TT Deluxe on Feb 17. It worked until I updated Windows 11 on Feb 18 to ver 24H2. Uninstalled and reinstalled TT. No help.
FINALLY got thru to TT support and they sent me an email to uninstall all versions of C++ and try again.
Now I am good to go! TT Install forced new install of C++ x64. So that is the version it wants.
yes the C++ fixed it for me too
