The W2, box 15 from a NY employer leaves out the NY state employer ID. Turbo tax insists that I add it. NY doesn't require it. How do I proceed?

Can I just type in the federal employer ID from box b so that the space is filled, or will that produce additional problems?

If your W-2 does not have a tax ID for the state, you can use the federal EIN for Box 15.
