I am only claiming myself. Should I still use deluxe

I’m not claiming my son this year. His mother will be claiming him this year. So should I use the free or deluxe.

You do not claim yourself as a dependent on your tax return.  You automatically receive a personal exemption of $4,050 when completing your tax return as the taxpayer.  You can use the Free edition whether or not you are claiming a dependent.

The version is not based on who you claim but on what kind of income and deductions you have.  Start with Free and it will upgrade you to Deluxe if you try to enter something not in the Free Edition.
